When a hard rock crushing plant in Possum Brush needed its electrical systems brought up to modern standards, the operators turned to Level Electrical Taree. Their goal was simple: upgrade ageing infrastructure, improve safety, and boost operational efficiency across the entire site.
With Jeff Brown leading the project, our team delivered a complete overhaul of the plant’s motor control centre and automation systems—resulting in safer operations, smarter control, and more reliable production performance.
A safer, smarter control system
To eliminate safety risks associated with the former setup, we redesigned the plant’s control circuit and converted it from 240V AC to a low-voltage 24V DC system. This change removed the risk of electrical shock from the control circuit and brought the site into line with modern electrical standards.
The motor control centre was redesigned to allow remote isolation of motor drives. We also grouped equipment into isolation zones, reducing the chance of arc flash injuries and making maintenance work significantly safer for everyone on site.
Automation that works harder
A new Allen-Bradley PLC and SCADA platform now runs the full plant. With real-time data, automated processes and remote monitoring, the operators can:
- Diagnose faults faster
- Reduce downtime
- Improve production flow
- Access clearer plant information from a central control point
“It’s been a complete shift in how the site operates,” says Jeff Brown. “The plant is safer, more efficient and built for reliable long-term performance.”
