For Sarah Stanford and her husband, a full renovation with electrical and air conditioning services for their dream home in Lorn, Maitland was going to be no easy feat. A short walk from the Hunter River, the house is over 100 years old and was brimming with original features. In 2019, the rare opportunity for the young couple to renovate their home in such a highly sought location started to become a reality… and that’s where we came in to deliver the goods!
The challenges of flipping an older home needing a full renovation with electrical and air conditioning services
Recommended by Sarah’s family, our team for this job involved Rowan, John and Sam to deliver our electrical services and Cooper was on all things air conditioning.
During our 40+ years of experience in providing the residents of Maitland air conditioning and electrical services, we’ve developed quite a deep knowledge of the infrastructure and air conditioning and electrical needs of many homes, offices and industrial facilities in the region.
Our initial work was during the renovations at the front of the house - three bedrooms, an en suite and the loungeroom. This included a full rewire, new light fittings (LED downlights), power points throughout and the installation of DC motor ceiling fans.
Following that, we the renovation received full electrical and air conditioning in the new extension, kitchen, butler’s pantry, dining and living rooms, rear deck, garage and carport. We installed the 7.0kW Hitachi S Series in the open plan living/dining/kitchen area which allowed for an even temperature throughout.
To make the butler’s pantry even more modern and convenient, we installed a recessed sensor controlling two LED downlights – no need to turn the lights on or off, just walk in and out.
As always, with old houses issues were always going to arise. The VIR (Vulcanised Indian Rubber) wiring from the 1910-1950 period needed replacing, the meter box and circuit protection was outdated, and light switches and light fitting were old and cracked.
Overcoming the challenge, our team fitted a new private pole at the front of the premise, complete with new electrical mains and meter box (which was relocated from front door) and all wiring and light fittings were replaced.
