The Platypus Rescue HQ at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, NSW plays a critical role in supporting the rescue, care and rehabilitation of one of Australia’s most unique native species.
Level Plumbing Dubbo was engaged to assist in delivering, specialised plumbing works for the facility, supporting a purpose-built environment designed to meet strict animal welfare, water quality and operational requirements.
A highly specialised facility
Unlike a standard commercial build, the Platypus Rescue HQ required plumbing systems that could support controlled aquatic environments, filtration systems and ongoing monitoring - all within a working zoo precinct.
The project formed part of Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s broader conservation program, with the facility designed to support both short-term rescue and longer-term care.
Scope of works
Level Plumbing Dubbo delivered plumbing services tailored to the operational needs of the facility, including:

Planning, care and coordination
Working within an operational zoo required careful planning and close coordination. The team managed access requirements, sequencing and safety considerations to ensure works progressed efficiently while minimising disruption to the surrounding environment.
