Level Plumbing Canberra on the Nishi Redevelopment
At the heart of Canberra’s acclaimed NewActon precinct, the Nishi building stands as one of the city’s most distinctive architectural landmarks - a fusion of sustainability, design and engineering excellence.
As part of Built’s rectification program, Level Plumbing Canberra was engaged to deliver complex siphonic gutter and drainage rectification works across the 27-storey structure.

Complex systems at extraordinary heights
Working on Nishi meant operating within one of the city’s most environmentally advanced and architecturally complex developments. The scope required significant technical planning and coordination with multiple trades to ensure every element aligned with both safety and design integrity.
Using the Geberit siphonic roof drainage system, the team implemented modifications to bring the building’s drainage performance in line with current standards, while maintaining the intent of the original design.
Navigating challenges through precision and teamwork
The project presented several challenges - from multiple design iterations to craneage scheduling, site access limitations and strict environmental and safety requirements. With works taking place 27 storeys above ground, careful coordination and communication were essential.
Backed by an eight-person projects team, Level Plumbing Canberra planned each stage with precision - supporting onsite trades, managing safety compliance and ensuring steady progress without delays.
Delivering performance and reliability
Despite the complexity, the Level Plumbing Canberra team continues to deliver efficiently, keeping the project on track and maintaining clear communication with the client. The rectified roof drainage systems now meet the building’s demanding performance and compliance requirements, supporting Nishi’s long-term sustainability outcomes.

About Nishi
Designed by Fender Katsalidis in collaboration with Japan’s Suppose Design Office, Nishi represents the final major stage of the NewActon precinct. The development combines residential apartments, a boutique hotel, cinema, and commercial offices, including the Department of Industry and Science and legal firm Clayton Utz.
Every aspect of its design responds to Canberra’s environment - maximising solar heat retention, airflow and sustainability. The building holds a 6 Star Green Star ‘as-built’ rating and an 8 Star NaTHERs rating.
A standout commercial team
The Level Plumbing Canberra team continues to demonstrate the planning, coordination and technical capability required to deliver high-performing plumbing solutions on complex commercial projects. Their ongoing collaboration with Built reflects a shared commitment to safety, reliability and performance - setting the benchmark for large-scale plumbing in the nation’s capital.
